The Excel Leadership Academy is a one-year leadership development programme designed to identify, equip, and empower emerging leaders within Excel Church. Through intentional training, mentoring, and hands-on ministry experience, participants will be developed spiritually and practically to lead with confidence, character, and conviction.
This Academy exists to invest in people who sense a call to grow, serve, and lead—helping them take their next step in leadership while remaining fully rooted in the life of the church.
What Is the Leadership Academy?
The Excel Leadership Academy is a free, application-based programme that runs over 12 months. It combines spiritual formation, leadership training, and real-life ministry experience, all supported through personal mentoring.
The Academy is limited to 12 participants per year, ensuring a high level of investment, accountability, and care.
What You’ll Receive
Participants in the Leadership Academy will benefit from: - Ongoing personal mentoring from experienced leaders - Practical leadership training and development - Preaching training using our in-house workshop curriculum - Opportunities to lead or host services - Exposure to wider leadership through AOG Zone training events - A deeper understanding of leadership, ministry, and calling
Subject to scope and cost, participants may also be enrolled in the AOG Leaders in Training (LIT) programme.
What’s Expected
The Leadership Academy is a commitment. Participants are expected to: - Attend Sunday services regularly - Attend Wednesday night Release services (twice per month) - Be actively involved in a Connect Group - Attend Leadership Development Nights (approximately 3 per year) - Participate in selected Saturday events - Engage fully in mentoring and training opportunities throughout the year
Who Is It For?
The Academy is for people who: - Are actively involved in Excel Church - Demonstrate faithfulness, teachability, and a servant heart - Sense a desire or calling to grow in leadership - Are willing to commit time, energy, and heart to personal development
You do not need to be an expert—just hungry to grow and ready to be shaped.
How to Apply
Places are limited to 12 participants, selected through an application and interview process.
Applications will open 1st February and close 28th February. There is a link to the form at the bottom of this page. Interviews will be conducted on the evening of Monday 16th March. Successful applicants will be notified following interviews and reference checks.
