Philippians 4:8 says: ‘Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.’

Our day-to-day living can be stressful at times, but there can be no better antidote for stress than controlling our thought life. The bible says gives us eight tests for deciding if we should welcome something into our thinking.  Is it true?  Is it honest?  Is it just?  Is it lovely? Is it pure?  Is it of good report?  Is it of any virtue?  Is it praise-worthy?

What you fill your mind with determines the level of stress in your life. To lower your stress levels, change what you think about!   No matter how scary your situation is, no matter how bleak it looks, no matter how anxious it makes you feel, just try and make a mental shift and think on the things listed in Philippians 4:8. In doing so, you are bringing God into your situation. You are making a mental shift from anxiety to trust and peace. If you fix your thoughts on God, He will keep you in perfect peace even when the world is in chaos! (Isaiah 26:3).

Life can be scary at times, but there is no storm so turbulent that the God of Peace will not calm.  This is the fastest cure for stress.  Why worry over what you cannot change?  Put the matter in His hands and fix your thoughts on Him and the result is peace and rest.
