You may or may not know this, but walking in love is one of the best things you can do for your physical and spiritual health. 1 Corinthians 13, often called the "love chapter," emphasises that love is the most important virtue, even more so than spiritual gifts like speaking in tongues or prophecy. It describes love as patient, kind, and selfless, highlighting what love does and what it is not. Essentially, the passage teaches that love is a way of life, focused on others and not on oneself, and that it is the foundation for all Christian living.
These are the key points of 1 Corinthians 13:
Love is paramount: Even the most impressive spiritual gifts are worthless without love.
Love is action, not just feeling: It's about serving others and living for their well-being.
Love's characteristics: It is patient, kind, selfless, not envious or boastful, not arrogant or resentful.
Love's limitations: It does not rejoice in evil, it is not easily angered, and covers all things.
Love will endure: It will remain when prophecy, tongues, and knowledge fade away.
In essence, 1 Corinthians 13 teaches that Christian living is not about impressive displays of gifts, but about a love that is actively lived out in serving others and imitating Christ. In addition, just think how much stress you could avoid by being quick to forgive and not counting the evils done to you. The physical and emotional benefits are enormous.
Review this passage (1 Corinthians, 13) today and ask yourself: ‘How is my love walk?’
