Proverbs 27:1 says: ‘Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.’
Isaiah 43: 18-19 on the other hand says: Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?’
We spend so much of our lives worrying about yesterday and tomorrow. Yet one is in the buried past and the other is unborn and yet to come. We are totally helpless in controlling either, except letting them steal today right out of your hands. David said ‘This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.’ (Ps 118:24). So, live wisely and seize the day with all its blessings and its challenges and squeeze every moment out of every day.
There is only one way to overcome your past: learn from it, because God can use your mistakes to develop you into the person He has called you to be. Don’t wait for ‘some day’ to be happy. Today is as good as any other day. God is ‘A very present help ….’ (Psalm 46:1).
Never fret about the future. Expect good, because God has said ‘For I know the plans I have for you... Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ (Jeremiah 29:1)
If God promises it, that settles it. Everyday is a gift. Live like you truly believe it!
