Finding Peace in an Unsettled World

In times like these, when news of conflict and uncertainty from places like the Middle East, or rising tensions across the world, fills our screens, it is completely natural to feel anxious. Many of us wake up wondering what the future holds, worried about our families, and longing for stability in a world that feels fragile.

But the good news is this: God has not left us alone in our anxiety. Scripture gives us both language for our fears and promises for our peace.

1.     God is Near to the Anxious

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)

When global events unsettle us, God draws near. He meets us not with judgement but with compassion, reminding us that He is close enough to carry what feels too heavy for us.

2.     Peace That Doesn’t Depend on Circumstances

“Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.”  (John 14:27)

The world’s peace depends on everything going right. Christ’s peace remains even when everything around us goes wrong. His peace isn’t the absence of conflict, it is the presence of God

3.    Bring Your Worries to God; He Can Handle Them

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6–7)

God invites us to bring our fears to Him, not to suppress them, but to release them into His care. As we pray, Scripture promises a peace that “guards our hearts and minds.”

In a world full of uncertainties, we can rest in this truth: God is still sovereign, still loving, and still with us. Our hope is not in headlines or human strength, but in the One who holds all things together.
